Vertigo is looking to hire seasoned practitioners from one of three practice areas:
- Designers with passion/skills for front-end production
- [Back end] Developers with a passion for the front-end, and for UX in general
- UI Developers from the XHTML, Flash, or Flex worlds who are excited to adopt XAML and Blend
Creative Developer (aka Front End Engineer, aka UI developer)
Role/Responsibilities:
- Build the working front-ends to high-impact RIAs and web-based applications
- Work within an emerging, dynamic UX team
- Specialize in straddling the line between UX/Visual Designers and Engineers; Ability to interpret UX designs and to write/understand pragmatic code
- Not simply a translator of UX/Visual design intents, the Creative Developer is an active/proactive participant in defining and executing great (fluid, responsive) User Experiences
- Able to meet daily project challenges with enthusiasm while also researching and proposing new approaches (refining techniques, taking advantage of new tech opportunities) alone and by interacting with their peers.
- Energetic and collaborative; a great work ethic; high degree of ownership
- Thrives in a diverse, multi-disciplinary environment (customer service oriented, casual)
- Affinity for new/emerging web technologies
- Passion for developing next generation RIAs
Skills/Tools:
- Use Expression Blend/Visual Studio and/or XHTML/CSS/JavaScript to create RIA and web-based application experiences
- Adopt and develop advanced UI frameworks
- Solve for cross-browser compatibility where appropriate
- Interact with/collaborate within design/development teams: usability, features, and performance
- Define project tasks and provide accurate associated time estimates within a SCRUM project delivery framework
- Desired Skills:
- 5 years of professional related experience
- Solid skills: XHTML, HTML5, CSS, and Web Standards; JavaScript and DOM Scripting; Ajax
- Experience developing Rich Internet Applications : Silverlight, Flex, Flash
- Design production skills, graphics optimization
- Good sense of web development, particularly ASP.NET
- Desire and ability to learn new skills around technology and design
- Flexibility around process; proactive around process refinement (inter-design, and designer/developer workflow)

Vertigo is hiring a Visual Designer who:
- Creates superior visual concepts and interface designs for buildable Rich Internet Applications and Line of Business applications
- Embraces emerging technologies and have an innate passion for visual design within an interactive context
- Articulates and presents design concepts and iterations of design deliverables to internal team members and Fortune 100 clients
- Translates complex user tasks/behaviors and data visualizations into engaging, intuitive interfaces
Qualifications:
- Solid knowledge of visual design processes, methodologies, and deliverables
- Focused skills around typography, layout, color, iconography, visual hierarchies, information visualization
- Experience working iteratively within larger interaction design, web development and software engineering teams
- Top-tier consulting skills
- Knowledge of user-centered design tenets and practices
- Mastery in both hand-sketching concepts and producing final assets in Adobe Creative Suite
- Understanding of capabilities/limitations of: HTML, JS, Flash, Silverlight, CSS
- Degree in Graphic Design or Industrial Design
Bonus Points:
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Expression Studio toolset
- Professional experience collaborating with .NET development teams
